On the afternoon of May 28, as researcher Lin Zhiwei's nearly two-hour report on "Magneto-Optical Imaging Technology and Its Applications" ended, the annual series of activities of the Science and Technology Week of the Provincial and Ministry Co-construction of the State Key Laboratory came to a successful end. This series of activities centered on the theme of the 35th National Science and Technology Week: "A Hundred Years Look Back: The Communist Party of China Leads the Development of Science and Technology" and "Global Science Popularization in the Digital Society in the Intelligent Era" was launched from May 22 to 28. The laboratory held popular science works. A series of activities were provided, such as exhibition, laboratory open day, the exchange meeting for young scholars of Guozhong laboratory, and academic report of overseas experts.
On May 22, the first science popularization exhibition which is also university students’ electronic design competition exhibition hosted by the State Key Laboratory was successfully held in the laboratory square. The participating faculties including the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Information Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Mechanical Engineering sent representatives of nearly one hundred outstanding teams from the company conducting works exhibitions and road shows. During the event, there were activities such as audience interaction and scientific knowledge prize-winning contests. The atmosphere was strong and the students participated fully.
On May 25, the State Key Laboratory and the Trade Union of the School of Electrical Engineering jointly invited 26 primary school students to visit the laboratory. The students have developed a keen interest in many projects in the laboratory. They not only saw advanced scientific research facilities such as artificial intelligence manipulators and brain-computer interfaces with a sense of science and technology, but also saw old-fashioned electrical devices with a sense of age. Experienced various innovative courses such as intelligent control, brain electricity information collection, and scientific small production. During the visiting, students were given patriotism education to pass on and promote the spirit of patriotism. During the interspersed multiple interactive question and answer sessions, the children actively participated and improved the learning effect.
On May 27, the exchange meeting of young scholars in the National Laboratory and the Yuan Optics Forum of the School of Electrical Engineering was successfully held. Professor Ding Fei, a national high-level talent, Professor Zhang Chuang, Wang Kun, Wang Xiaoxue, Zhang Changgeng, Li Shanhu, etc., who are experts in Yuan optics, gave special reports respectively. A total of more than 200 people participated in the forum, both online and offline. The forum process included presentations, Q&A, and discussion sessions. Teachers and students participated actively and fully demonstrated the strong academic atmosphere of the laboratory.
On May 28, the laboratory invited senior researcher Lin Zhiwei from the University of Technology, Sydney and gave an academic report entitled "Magneto-Optic Imaging Technology and Its Applications". Research theme include electromagnetic properties of materials, various magnetic materials and giant magnetoresistance materials. After the Q&A and discussion sessions, the academic exchange meeting was successfully concluded with warm applause. The leaders, teachers and students who attended the meeting believed that the success of this academic event will not only broaden the scientific research horizons of teachers and students, but also greatly promote the collaboration between teachers and students in the laboratory. This academic event also promote the cooperation between experts from well-known foreign universities. The overseas scholars' seminar also brought a complete end to the laboratory's 35th Science and Technology Week series activities.
The successful holding of the Science and Technology Week series of activities has enhanced the precision science popularization of the laboratory and broadened the coverage of popular science services, and practiced the concept of global science popularization through a series of activities. At the same time, the successful holding of the science and technology exhibition coincided with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Interpreted the theme of "Hundred Years Looking Back: The Communist Party of China Leads the Development of Science and Technology"; the holding of a series of academic activities opened up ideas for teachers and students of our school, and implemented the laboratory's concept of "Never forget the original aspiration, and use scientific research to feed back".
