On the afternoon of May 21, the World Smart Congress - Sino-Finnish Science and Technology Innovation Forum, organized by the Organizing Committee of the World Smart Congress, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Management Committee and Junction and co-organized by the university, was held at the Tianjin Meijiang Exhibition Centre. Vice President Ma Guowei was invited to give a keynote speech with the topic of "Science and Technology Innovation and Higher Education at the age of Intelligence". From the perspective of higher education, Ma Guowei shared his personal understanding of how future-oriented higher education should promote and facilitate the development of science and technology in the new era, and how it can provide services and support for scientific and technological progress.
Ma Guowei firstly reviewed the 118-year histories of Hebei University of Technology, and highlighted the university's characteristic of "engineering together" since its foundation. He also pointed out that the era of artificial intelligence is characterized by information, intelligence, diversity and globalization.
Ma Guowei gave a detailed introduction to the Finland Campus of Hebei University of Technology, focusing on the construction process, activities, future development and significance. He pointed out that the Finland Campus focuses on the key technology areas in the future era of artificial intelligence, relying on the national "double first-class" discipline construction of the university and the superior discipline of Lappeenranta University of Technology. It offers four professional fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy power and computer science, which provides an international education environment for Chinese students and a high-quality platform for international students to learn about China. It offers new ideas and references for international cooperation in education. Ma Guowei also introduced the "Industrial Design" project established by our university and LAB University of Applied Sciences, which will train high quality, future-oriented and applied technical talents with an international perspective.
