The "Electric Vehicle Automatic Transmission Module System" developed by Professor Chen Yong of the New Energy Vehicle Research Centre of the School of Mechanical Engineering was awarded the Gold Medal at the 48th Geneva International Invention Gold Award at the 48th Geneva International Invention Exhibition.
Facing the cutting-edge needs of high-performance power systems for new energy vehicles, Chen Yong's team has developed a series of automatic transmission platforms for pure electric vehicles, including direct-drive two-speed mechanical automatic transmission without synchronizer, power shift dry dual-clutch automatic transmission and dual-motor multi-gear electric drive assembly system, which can meet the needs of low-speed hill climbing and acceleration, as well as the needs of high-speed cruising. It solves the problem of high-speed power shifting, improves the vehicle performance in terms of power, economy and range, and provides a variety of scalable transmission technology routes for NEV.
Founded in 1973, the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions is one of the world's most famous invention exhibitions and one of the longest and largest invention exhibitions in the world, which successfully held for 48 editions until 2021. The exhibition is organized by the Swiss Federal Government, the Canton of Geneva, the City of Geneva and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Every year, the fair attracts companies, universities, research institutes and individual inventors from nearly 50 countries. The 48th edition of the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions will take place from March 10 to 14, 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland, as an "online exhibition and jury", due to the enormous impact of the new crown epidemic in the world.
