On the morning of March 17, Professor Don Cleland, dean of the Engineering College of Massey University in New Zealand, and Professor Stephen Marsland visited our University. The director of International Cooperation and Exchange department, Yu Ming, dean of the International Education College, Gao Suying, and assistant dean of the International Education College, Bai Zhonghang, met with the guests in the meeting room of the Beichen campus. The two parties had a preliminary discussion on the project of educating undergraduates jointly by two universities.
At 2:00 p.m., professor Cleland and professor Marsland gave academic lectures to the teachers and students of the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering and the School of Computer Science and Engineering respectively, and their lectures are welcomed and highly praised among both teachers and students of the two colleges.
On the morning of March 18, the director of International Cooperation and Exchange department, Yu Ming, dean of the International Education College, Gao Suying, and assistant dean of the International Education College, Bai Zhonghang, continuously discussed with Professor Cleland and Professor Marsland in the meeting room of the International Education College about the agreement of educating undergraduates jointly by two universities. The two parties had through and detailed conversation on courses, modes, teachers and other aspects under the cooperation of the two universities and made a substantial progress.
At 2:30 p.m., president of HEBUT, Prof. Zhan Yong, received vice chancellor of Massey University in New Zealand, Mr. Steve Maharey, and the delegation thereof in Tuan Cheng, eastern campus. The two presidents introduced the history and current status of each university to each other; they were very satisfied with the achievement under the cooperation of the two universities and hope to further strengthen cooperation in running colleges, teacher exchanges, scientific researches and so on to deepen the friendly relations between the two schools.
Then the two presidents presented gifts with each other.
After meeting with President Zhan Yong, President Steve Maharey and his delegation visited the University History Room of Hebei University of Technology under the accompaniment of leaders of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, the International Education College and the Propaganda Department.
At 4:00 pm, VC Steve Maharey gave a wonderful speech to teachers and students of our University in the Lecture Hall 7D101, which won much applause and high praise of the teachers and students on the spot.
After the speech, vice President of our University, Prof. Tan Runhua, met with Steve Maharey and his delegation to express welcome to the delegation of Massey University and hope the cooperation of the two universities can make greater achievements.
Massey University in New Zealand was founded in Palmerston North in 1927. It was originally an agriculture university and is one of the eight national universities in New Zealand.
