On December 6, 2017, the 2017 “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest was launched in Beijing FLTRP International Convention Center, where 91 contestants who had advanced to the final phase competed for the prizes. Wang Tong from Accounting Class 151 of the School of Economics and Management of HEBUT, was awarded the second prize in the contest.

FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest is hosted by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press with the cooperation of the Advisory Committee on the Teaching of English for English Majors and the Advisory Committee on the Teaching of English for Non-English Majors, both under the Ministry of Education. It is a public competition oriented toward all the college students around the nation. The contest is divided into three phases, i.e. the preliminary contest at the school level, the semi-final contest at the province (or municipality or autonomous region) level, and the national final contest.

The contest requires that the contestants should possess excellent language competence as well as strict logical and critical thinking. The Education and Training Center in the School of Foreign Languages of HEBUT played an active part in mobilizing the contestant’s initiative and appointed Miss Jing Yuan as the tutor, who arranged intense training for the contestant. Meanwhile, Wang Tong also spared no efforts in preparing for the contest. With her unremitting endeavor, she won the special prize in the semi-final contest at the provincial level and finally won the second prize in the National Final Contest, thus bringing credit to both HEBUT and Hebei Province.
