HEBUT Attending Talent Contest for Sino-Foreign Language Learning Partners
The School of International Education and School of Foreign Languages of HEBUT joined hands to attend Talent Contest for Sino-Foreign Language Learning Partners on Dec. 15, 2016, which was sponsored by the Youth League Committee of Beijing International Studies University. The contest, with “languages bridging the world and gracing Beijing Winter Olympic Games” as the theme, attracted 8 pairs of Sino-foreign language partners from three universities of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. The HEBUT contestants, as the largest team, won the biggest applause in the contest.
In the three stages of the contest featuring repeating lip language, talent show, and T-stage show respectively, the contestants showed their wits and humor in their dancing, crosstalk (Xiangsheng), recitation, singing and Chinese traditional costume show. Their comprehension of different cultures and the foreign students’ impression of China were echoed by the audience, who especially gave constant big applause to the HEBUT contestants highlighted by the dancing by Duke and Mao Ziyue, singing by Christa and Hu Jiatong, crosstalk by Yvonne and Ou Ni, and repeating lip language by Tadese and Hao Shengchao.
The contest, focusing on the coming Winter Olympic Games, reveals Beijing’s determination and confidence to step on to the international stage. It is also an occasion for inter-collegiate intercultural communication and the students’ shared effort to promote the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
